In real time the effort it takes to align my scoliosis convex shoulder in the most functional way for this pose. This takes a lot of my presence, patience and once I am in the pose also breath to find stillness in it all.

To find stability and comfort in the pose, both physically and mentally. That is the practice.

Yoga philosophy has been the most influential on how to practice yoga and find alignment for my scoliosis. Even of the tiny bits of the philosophy that I have integrated, I am very grateful. Yet, there is always more to learn 💫

As a 35 year old woman with no children and health

As a 35 year old woman with no children and health conditions, I have seen how society nowadays does not benefit women. #internationalwomensday

Whenever I walk into a room, I am usually underestimated. Especially by men. But by women sometimes too. Looking younger than I am and being female apparently means that I am incapable to express deep thoughts and useful strategies. I know otherwise. So I usually wait patiently until I can prove them wrong. If I choose to even put my energy in it at all.

Everyone is all about data. But data is biased by the beliefs of the patriarchy / colonialism and capitalism. Therefore, a lot of data needs to be criticised to where it is coming from and who is feeding any ai. When we look at data, who has interpreted it and how is the visualisation manipulated?

80% of people with scoliosis are female. I feel this is one of the reasons scoliosis is not taken seriously. I once talked to an orthopaedic surgeon that told me women usually were accused of hysteria when coming to a doctor with any problem. Thus, not taken seriously. Even until recently, scoliosis was classified as an aesthetic condition. The health impact was not even discussed. Only since recent years there is slowly becoming more acknowledgement of the overall impact of scoliosis on someones health and daily life.

I have experienced so many external expectation put on me, because I am a woman of a certain age that looks a certain way and expresses herself a certain way (on social media). Therefore,I have decided to stay true to my own truth and the people that are open to get to know me, will. And everyone else that has made up their own story, can just stay there. It doesn’t bother me (anymore), I will focus on the people that actually want to see me for me.

‘The yoga pose you hate the most, you need the m

‘The yoga pose you hate the most, you need the most.’ Is often said by yoga teachers.

This is the yoga pose I hate the most. But I know is most beneficial to my shoulder strength.

In the first photo I do the pose without taking my scoliosis into account. You can really see the shoulder fall forward and the scapula not connected to the back.

In the second photo I have made my scoliosis adjustments, so I can train aligned strength for my specific back.

So, I am acknowledging that I need the poses I hate the most and allow space to explore them in depth again. The practice is a never ending journey 🙏

And maybe the saying about what you hate to do the most, you need to work on the most, might apply to other areas of life too💫

Or not. We all have our own story that is unfolding. I just choose to share mine with you.

I once started this, because I felt alone in my human experience. And through sharing my story, I got into contact with others that had similar experiences. Most of us still support each other on the app for which I am very grateful.

Healing is a never ending journey. Since there will always be new life situations that trigger us.

As a coach, I am always happy to shine a light on your next steps. To let life amaze you 💫

Does this support my life? Help my body-mind-soul

Does this support my life? Help my body-mind-soul to thrive? Supports my nervous system?

These are questions I ask myself in the things that I do.

Yes, I still mess up. But these are learning experiences. Like, maybe that wasn’t for me after all. But at least I tried and now I know.

Is there a certain story you are trying to play out? Is there a perfect picture that you have in your mind?

There is no end goal. Just a state of being. So reflect where these stories came from. And wether they are still true. And how they make you feel. Maybe you are ready to start writing your own story instead. With your unique twists and turns. Like reading a book for the first time and not knowing what the next chapter will be. Letting life unfold as you go.

It might be better than you can imagine.
