Thank you for sharing your experience through my s Thank you for sharing your experience through my story the last couple of days.πŸ’–

I asked the question; 'what did you learn/hear about scoliosis, that turned out to be not true'. A lot of you replied and a lot of the same stories wers came by.
πŸ’–
Quite often we feel alone in our experience and think we are the only one struggling with a certain advice. However, in our scoliosis stories is a lot of overlap. And I think it is important that this comes out more, so we can create more awareness (and hopefully change) in scoliosis experiences.
πŸ’–
Therefore, in my classes and coaching group, I want to give space to these issues. You are not alone in your scoliosis journey.

As a teen, all we want is to belong. And probably As a teen, all we want is to belong. And probably later in life too.πŸ’β€β™€οΈ
☝️
However, trying to belong will rob us from being ourselves. From stepping into our power.
πŸ€—
As teens we are especially vulnerable to this. We are experimenting in order to find our identy. This is all know within developmental psychology. Thus being challenged with scoliosis, will also bring developmental and social challenges. We don't want to be seen as weird, a party pooper or bore.
😫
And having a scoliosis diagnosis, usually means you will have to go through a treatment. Whatever this may be for you; brace, physio, doctor visits etc. If you are lucky, you don't have pain. But maybe your back gets tired easier than your friends'. Especially if you haven't taken care of yourself.
πŸ™…β€β™€οΈ
This can mean, that we cross our boundaries, because we want to fit in. Make choices that are not beneficial to our health and not sharing how we really feel with our friends. Because let's be honest, usually they won't understand. But belief me when I say, that your real friends will stick around to learn to understand and support you.
πŸ€—
The sooner you start sticking up for yourself. Stepping into how you are different and owning it. The more you will attract the people that want to be in your life as you are. Not as you think you need to be.
πŸ’œ
And that is why you are here now πŸ§šβ€β™€οΈ
One more time for the people in the backπŸ’– I ju One more time for the people in the backπŸ’–

I just can't say this enough.

How do you know whether you love your scoliosis curves?

What if you had a child and you would say: "It is just there. That's all. It doesn't need my attention".

Are you someone that does this to your child? To your scoliosis, I mean?

What do you think the child will do? It will scream for attention!

Yes, and that it what your scoliosis/back will do too, if it doesn't get the love it is craving so badly.

I unknowingly let it come this far. We are not taught to take care of our body, do we? In my late twenties my back started screaming. And because I never listened to anything it tried to tell me before, I had no understanding of where it all came from.

Now I do. The lack of love and care of my body took a toll. And it order to heal we don't (only) need practical medical solutions, that are enabling our unloving behavior to ourselves. But we need loving support from people that help us understand what our body is craving. And how to give it to it.

That's why I am here. And if you are ready to learn more. Sign up for my newsletter. Link in bio πŸ’–
Empowerment and awareness isn't always fun. Though Empowerment and awareness isn't always fun. Though finding a curious perspective will make it a little more fun.
✨
In order to grow and find empowerment, it implies confrontation and unraveling limiting behavior and thoughts. These patterns first have to come to the surface in order to choose a new direction. In this process it is helpful to have guidance. Someone that can help you recognizing patterns and giving new options for the direction you want to go in.
πŸ’œ
Let's do this together. I am looking forward to see what yoga poses you are avoiding and discuss why you might need them. Not only from a physiological perspective, but also looking at yoga pholisophy. Let's build awareness.

Actually being a Health Coach has helped me personally a lot through these strange times. @nutritionschool takes a holistic approach and besides knowing the importance to support the immune system, I am aware of the importance of mental health. Different parts of our lives are essential for our overall health. This enabled me to take care of myself and also support the people around. Which I am really grateful for.
πŸ’«
Also it is so amazing to see clients grow and exceed their own expectations. And I am really looking forward to get all this knowledge about health in relation to scoliosis packaged to share with you all. One step at a time.

During class, I sometimes take time to see how my students are doing. Maybe I can help them out with a personal instruction. And I really love to see their work and especially to see them grow after taking yoga classes for a while with me.

Yoga for Scoliosis can be confronting and I give guidance in exploring new activations in order to create more balance. This can be an intens emotional process as well. But also so much growth lays ahead for themπŸ™
